We are covering a varity of hair types, but please keep in mind even in this case there are some general rules that we should get out the way when it boils down to careing for your natural strands.
1. Keep your ends clipped and healthy. If your ends are damaged the hair will not be able to hold moisture as well and it will almost impossible to get your natural curl pattern to show or hold a hair style.
2. Stay away from High Heat and Iron tools, heat is very damaging to the hair. If you must apply any type of heat be sure to use a good heat protector.
3. Never detangle your hair when it’s wet. When your hair is wet it loses it elasticity making it more prone to snapping.
4. Keep your hair twisted down and covered up at bed time. l
Straight hair is classified as a 1. This hair type has the most shine. It is also the strongest of all the hair types. It is very hard to damage and next to impossible to curl. Because of the hair’s ability to produce natural oils, this also makes this hair type the most oily of all the hair types.
1A – Straight (Fine/Thin) This hair type tends to be very soft, shiny, and hard to get to hold curls. This hair type is also prone to becoming very oily at the same time you will find that this hair type is very hard to damage.
1B – Straight ( Medium) This hair type has lots of body full of volume and just all around fuller than type 1A.
1C – Straight ( Coarse) This hair type is very hard to curl it’s pretty much bone straight. You will find most Asia women fall into this category.
Caring for Type 1A – 1C Hair
Becuase type one hair holds so much oil you will notice people with type 1 hair have a daily shampoo routine. But if your are a type 1 with the hopes of growing out healthy long hair you may want to reduce your shampoo day’s to every other day using a Shampoo that does not consist of harsh chemicals. You also should stay away from products that add oil because you do pretty well with producing your own natural oils.
Styling for Type 1A – 1C Hair
When styling this hair type I have found that curls will never hold. This hair type does do very well when hair is shapped and molded into its hair style. It does very well with layered styles and up do’s. I do not recommend curly hair styes for this texture at all.
Wavy hair is classified as a 2. Wavy hair is right between straight and curly. It is also full of sheen and a bit more curly but less straight then type 1 hair. It seems the more the hair waves and curls the less shine it has. Wavy hair is normally more prone to frizzing, but type A waves can easily alternate btween straight and curly styles, type B and C wavy hair is resistant to styling for the most part.
2A – Wavy ( Fine or Thin) This hair type has a defined “S” pattern and you can accomplish many nice styles with this particular hair type.
2B – Wavy (Medium) This hair type can show frizz, and at times show to be resistant when trying to style it.
2C – Wavy (Coarse) This hair type is resistant to styling period, and it usually ends up in a frizzy state. 2C hair has very thick and deep waves.
